Corporate Counsel - Privacy The candidate will be primarily responsible for providing legal support on transactions and operational processes involving privacy and data protection, and provide training and advice across the organization. This is a singular opportunity to play a pivotal role on firm’s expanding legal team and to work on challenging legal issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment. Will provide privacy guidance and support to various departments, including global marketing, procurement, product teams, sales, human resources and the governance, risk and compliance team. Assist the legal team by reviewing and negotiating privacy-related agreements in support of global sales transactions. Assist in creating and maintaining privacy related notices, policies, standards, guidelines and processes, including privacy reviews and privacy impact assessments. Develop and administer privacy training for various groups within the company. Maintain and update data transfer frameworks and agreements and assist with administering annual compliance reviews. Continually reassess the company’s privacy practices in light of changes in the law. Assist with M&A due diligence in the area of privacy. Respond to privacy-related customer/public inquiries.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Undergraduate and law degrees from highly regarded schools. Must be Current member of a state bar in good standing. Must have 3-5 years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department of a technology company.CIPP or CIPM certification is required. Substantive and demonstrated expertise in privacy and data protection laws is required. Must have international experience and working knowledge of global data transfer mechanisms, including Privacy Shield and Binding Corporate Rules. Experience conducting privacy reviews and privacy impact assessments is required. Demonstrated experience with SaaS and PaaS a plus.
