Government and Government Relations

Government Relations Counsel Duties: Provide legal support to Government Relations team submitting and acquiring permits and other entitlement applications and agreements needed for installation of Client facilities on utility poles and other infrastructure within the public right of way and public utility easements. Provide legal support for Government Relations team efforts to negotiate right-of-way use agreements as needed in accordance with Client standards and parameters. Maintain relationships with municipalities and manage all aspects of complying with conditions of approvals from municipalities for installation, operation and maintenance of Client’s facilities. Will also be called upon to interface with the City Attorney’s office and staff on legal matters related to municipal codes and effectively communicating Client’s regulatory status in support of networks. Serve as liaison between Client NRE group and Operations group to obtain, administer and to ensure compliance with general conditions of approvals at permit and construction stages of the project, and meet project timelines. Support the NRE market team on legal review of agreements and review of municipal code and/or zoning ordinance changes. Provide legal response and input to protect Client’s regulatory rights and ability to install and operate networks in the market. Litigation support as needed. And provide legal research and advice to internal clients regarding access rights, permitting, and project deployment.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree is essential. JD degree from an accredited law school is essential. Must have 5+ years of proven experience working in a utility, municipality, or Planning, Zoning, and Land Use capacity required or equivalent in a comparable industry or relevant military experience. Experience in presenting and speaking to the public and governmental entities required. Must be experienced in navigating corporate or military command structures and working within a corporate group context. Experience working with design teams, preparation of permits drawings and construction documents, and construction preferred. Demonstrated responsibility for administering a group or program budget required. Litigation or litigation support experience preferred. Experience in constructing and administering community outreach programs preferred. Wireless industry experience preferred.
