ProfileStaff Attorney Duties: Performs duties assigned by Chief Legal Officer, Corporate Counsel and Senior Associate Counsel such as compliance advice, guidance, instruction and other legal services to management and Departments as well as reviewing and drafting legal documents. As a regular part of the SP contract review and approval process, assists with drafting, editing and review of all contracts prior to execution by staff. Assists with provision of legal advice, guidance, instruction, and other legal services to departments and management. Assists other attorneys in support of Projects field offices and travels internationally as assigned. Maintains a working knowledge of all relevant legal and regulatory compliance information and provides advice and training related thereto. Assists with review of all requests for permission to use intellectual property and prepares appropriate documentation of such permissions as part of the Permissions procedure. Assists with management and monitoring of domestic and international Samaritan’s Purse intellectual property, including filing of new and maintenance of existing registrations; monitoring infringement activity; advising affiliate offices on matters related to trademark license agreements and assisting with the review and documentation of requests for permissions to use intellectual property. Monitors and assists management with analysis of various risk management issues, including review of and assistance with portfolio of insurance policies. Drafts various State and Federal legal filings, including technical fundraising applications such as the Combined Federal Campaign programs. Works with outside legal counsel when outsourcing legal services impacting the organization. Assists Chief Legal Officer and other attorneys in handling other research projects, duties and activities as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: JD Degree. Must have a current license to practice law in at least one US state or the District of Columbia. 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints while maintaining confidentiality. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or Boards of Directors.
