Associate General Counsel The candidate will provide legal advice and services on issues concerning the rights, obligations, risks and privileges of the organization. Protect the organization's rights in implementing business objectives, contract negotiations, settlements and litigation. Acquire deep knowledge of the industry and the specific business practices of this particular business within the Group so as to best advise senior business leaders. Provides a full range of legal advice and services and may specialize in one of more areas such as, commercial law, contracts law, benefit law, insurance law, regulatory and compliance. This position is for the Benefit Operations Legal team, which provides legal support on issues concerning Payment Integrity (fraud, waste and abuse), Affordability, global optimization, consumer and customer experience, regulatory implementation, enrollment, claim, call and appeal operations, and other operational functions across the company. Juris Doctorate degree and 5+ years of legal experience required. Proven success in collaborating across a matrixed business and legal environment and demonstrated understanding of business problems related to assigned legal projects required. Strong: understanding of health insurance and/or managed care industry; background in health care industry; operational experience with provider data and claims platforms required. Knowledge of U.S., state health care and insurance laws and regulations and prior managed care or health insurance legal experience required. Experience with prompt pay, clean claim laws, and/or HIPAA administrative simplification rules required. Well-developed written and verbal communications skills and excellent presentation skills required. Ability: to evaluate and determine appropriate legal course of action to meet business unit needs; to build and maintain rapport with superiors, peers, subordinates, and external company contacts required.
