Profile

Counsel The candidate will support the Vice Present & General Counsel on a wide range of matters, including medical-legal issues, contracting, policies and procedures, risk management, regulatory and corporate compliance, and general legal and business advising to various departments of the company. Support the Contracting department. Manage outside counsel on matters related to company’s pension. Review responses prepared by Risk Management to the Medical Board on physician licensing matters. Review new cases filed under company’s professional liability policies and escalate cases to the General Counsel as needed. Review new policies and procedures and support the Staff Manual Committee of the Board of Directors. Work with Health Plan Counsel on regulatory questions. Work with Legal Operations Manager on EPL claims management. Collaborate with Risk Management and company Operations Manager on process improvements. Attend the Regulatory Affairs Committee meetings on behalf of company Legal. Review contracts for Health Care Solutions. Review and update company template documents as needed. Assist the General Counsel in preparing materials for the Board of Directors. Juris Doctor (JD) Degree required. Degree, education, certification or equivalent work experience in health care (administration, public health, coding, compliance, etc.) preferred. 3- 5 years legal experience including: Working knowledge of legal and policy issues relative to health care industry, professional liability, Stark and Anti-kickback, Medicare/Medicaid, electronic health information and systems, and health care regulatory or compliance matters required. Excellent: contract drafting skills; written and oral advocacy skills and strong, interpersonal skills required. Experience: and working knowledge of concepts, theories, practices and cases related to Labor and Employment, ERISA, Pension, Plans, and general employment law and matters; with provider and payor contracting; with licensure matters in front of the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) preferred.
