Profile

Assistant General Counsel – Litigation, Employment and Commercial The candidate will act as a true business partner to the business team. The attorney will be responsible for (i) managing all of company’s litigation and claims on a global basis, (ii) supporting human resources on employment and benefit matters globally, and (iii) supporting commercial sales and operations throughout the Asia Pacific region. Manage all litigation and claims globally. Partner with human resources to address employment and benefits issues globally. Draft and negotiate contracts and provide overall commercial support for the Asia Pacific region. Implement enterprise risk management and ethics/compliance initiatives. Design strategic policies and ensure consistency with business objectives. Provide training on key legal issues. Positively impact the business by influencing decisions through advice/guidance on legal issues and in setting business direction and strategy. Develop cross-departmental relationships to build consensus, promote best practices and implement process improvement. Work with business units and functions to proactively learn about all aspects of the business and the regulatory process impacting the business. Support the General Counsel in building the capabilities of the legal team, including working with the legal team on special projects and mergers/acquisitions and joint ventures. Other responsibilities as assigned by the General Counsel. Juris Doctor degree from a nationally accredited law school and admittance to practice in at least one jurisdiction required. Prior in-house experience with a multi-national company required. Experience managing litigation and claims, including employment and benefit related claims and matters required. Experience negotiating commercial contracts required. 6 - 8 years of legal practice with direct client interaction required. Ability to effectively assess issues from legal and business perspectives when advising business leaders, identifying risks and prioritizing response required.
