Legal - Assistant General Counsel - Legal Discovery Management - Vice President Responsibilities: Participate as an “ambassador†on behalf of Litigation in firmwide and business-centric steering committees related to IG and record retention policies and procedures, bringing to these forums your legal expertise and knowledge of Litigation processes and the risks we manage. Partnership and collaboration with records management, multiple technology organizations, Compliance, Privacy, Risk, line of business representatives, and other key stakeholders involved in IG. Alongside these partners, create and implement controls, processes, and business requirements for the purpose of reducing discovery-related risk. Develop and enhance the structure around which both LDM and Litigators become engaged in firmwide IG issues, ensuring the efficiency, accuracy, and appropriateness of these groups’ involvement. Educate internal and external stakeholders about discovery and the importance of accounting for the identification, preservation, and collection of information as various internal groups and third parties manage the firm’s data in accordance with business needs. Manage multiple outside counsel engagements related to IG and implement them accordingly. Improve discovery processes and data quality, thereby enhancing LDM’s ability to mitigate discovery risks by gaining additional visibility into the firm’s data footprint. Communicate effectively with large, diverse swaths of internal and external stakeholders, crafting messages that will educate our audience and evoke appropriate action when necessary. Respond to ad-hoc requests related to discovery and IG, including legal hold determinations and cross-matter impacts.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree and license to practice law in any US jurisdiction. Must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of that state/jurisdiction. 5-10 years of experience in discovery, information governance, and/or records management, preferably within a large organization or law firm/consulting firm/external service provider. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple diverse projects, workflows, and processes simultaneously. Ability to work effectively in diverse teams and collaborate across corporate functions. Experience with data analytics/predictive modeling for legal applications is a plus. Basic knowledge of financial markets and products.
