Employment Practice Liability Attorney The candidate will responsible for defending employment and labor cases before governmental administrative agencies, and State and Federal Courts filed against firm’s insureds. The individual must be able to successfully litigate cases involving FEHA/Title VII violations, sexual harassment, retaliation, discrimination, hostile work environment, wrongful termination and labor code violations. Specific duties will include: trial work, conducting and defending depositions and engaging in other pre-trial discovery, drafting pleadings, engaging in motion practice, legal research, negotiating settlements, and generating reports and evaluations on assigned cases.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must be admitted and in good standing to the State Bar of California and the U.S. District Courts of California. Must have 8+ years of defense side experience litigating a broad range of employment and labor cases in State and Federal Courts throughout California. Strong knowledge of current State and Federal procedural and substantive law. Ability to demonstrate effective oral and written advocacy skills and negotiation tactics. Ability to apply analytical skills in addressing complex legal issues. Must demonstrate strong communication skills to effectively communicate with clients, claim examiners, opposing counsel, staff and other members of House Counsel. Must be able to travel to defend cases throughout California.
