Staff Attorney - Business Transactions The candidate will assist in providing legal advice and support to business partners as a member of the Business Transactions team. Will provide legal advice and counsel, with supervision, on behalf of Investments and Business Transactions Law. Assist in providing advice and counsel to business partners on legal issues and risks in connection with routine transactions. Conduct preliminary legal review and assessment of day-to-day matters. Conduct research, identify issues, draft, review, and negotiate agreements, and prepare recommendations with respect to day-to-day matters. Manage projects and handle some matters independently to conclusion. Support, and has direct accountability for overseeing and handling routine issues for various client groups, and various other business units including those engaged in mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, and strategic initiatives, and is responsible for coordinating with various internal clients in connection with that work. From time-to-time, oversee the work of outside counsel and contract workers in connection with routine activities. Develop legal and business knowledge with respect to business transactions. Develop relationships with industry peers and participate in industry associations. Should have a J.D. degree and license to practice law in Illinois (and/or other states). Should preferably have 5+ years of transactional experience in a large corporate law firm or a Fortune 500 or similar company. Transactional experience related to Technology contracts is a significant plus.
