Profile

Marketing and Business Development Manager Duties: Serves as the business development lead for various practice groups under the Business Department. Works with Department Heads and Practice Group Leaders to grow and maintain client relationships by presenting new solutions and services to clients to achieve financial growth. Work with Practice Group Leaders (“PGL”) to understand the exact strength of each practice and work with PGLs to implement business development strategies. Stay current on market and business trends to understand the competitive landscapes of the assigned practices. Work with the Department Heads, PGLs and individual attorneys to develop practice specific marketing and business development plans. Participate on the Firm’s institutional client teams with key partners to further develop additional business opportunities. Evaluate firm clients to identify opportunities for cross-selling across practice areas and offices. Develop targeted pitches and presentations as well as responses to requests for proposals (RFPs) that speak to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives. Develop target lists and work with lawyers on executing pitch meetings. Compile transaction and case descriptions for use in proposals, on the website, and in deal diaries; track client permissions to use such descriptions. Attend practice group meetings to learn about new initiatives and provide updates about relevant marketing and business development activities. Track client development activities and new business development efforts in the Firm’s Client Relationship Management system (InterAction). Identify opportunities for cross‑marketing of existing firm clients and new client prospects. Manage sponsorships of events, including preparation of marketing materials and ads, attorney registrations, and follow-up coordination. Work with the Client Events Manager on events that participation is needed or required. Manage newsletter and alert distribution, including reviewing and proofing content, coordinating posting to the website, development of mailing lists, and dissemination. Assist in developing submissions for surveys and directories.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Desire: Undergraduate degree in marketing or related studies essential; advanced degree (e.g., MBA or J.D.) preferred. 6‑8 years of professional service marketing experience. Prior legal marketing experience preferred. Strong oral & written communications skills. Ability to builds and maintains relationships.
