DVP and Legal Counsel Duties: Will join the Division Legal Department. Will oversee and coordinate all division legal matters, with an emphasis on land acquisition. Provide legal advice related to land acquisition and development, including drafting contracts and related documents, reviewing title, working with title company, working with municipalities and special districts, handling closings, consulting with and coordinating outside counsel, as necessary. Review and revise homebuyer contract documents; advise regarding RESPA issues and other issues. Handle customer disputes; coordinate outside counsel as necessary. Review and revise homeowner association documents and provide advice on homeowner association issues. Review marketing contract and programs; draft documentation as necessary. Review and revise subcontractor contract documents, handle disputes. Review safety programs, review and revise manual and written policies, handle safety issues including OSHA. Provide advice, regarding employment matters and issues; conduct manager training regarding employment policies and practices; assist in drafting job descriptions; handle disputes, draft policies, involve outside counsel as necessary. Provide advice regarding legal issues in construction and warranty. Provide advice regarding various other division matters. Will manage an employee. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification Requirements: Doctoral degree (Ph. D.) or equivalent; or 10+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
