Chief Legal Counsel Duties: Be the top Legal Executive and will oversee the Legal Department, Compliance, Risk Management and outside counsel support. Will provide guidance to Human Resources, Operations, Finance, Sales and IT in regards to employee relations and labor law, procurement contracts, facilities leasing, and client contracts. Supervise the Legal Department, but will be more than a delegator. Be responsible for directly resolving key legal issues for the company. Comprehensive understanding of federal and state employment and labor law including but not limited to FLSA, meal and break periods, overtime, non-compete and employment contracts, especially as applicable in a workforce with a heavy non-exempt population. Provide guidance and counsel to Human Resources and Operations Managers to ensure compliance with legal requirements to minimize risk. Develop and execute contract documents including executive employment agreements, procurement contracts, client engagement contracts, and facilities lease. Provide counsel on strategic business initiatives while also providing day-to-day advice on legal compliance and how to resolve tactical legal issues that arise. Support Human Resources in training initiatives to implement legal compliance guidelines. Support Merger & Acquisitions, Debt Financing, and other corporate strategic initiatives. Directly supervise General Counsel and the Legal Department staff.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: J.D. Degree plus state bar license is required. 15 years experience working in law with strong exposure the corporate law, contracts and employment law. Ability to understand and resolve complex legal and business issues. Proven management and leadership experience with building and supervising a legal team.
