Profile

Director Business Development and Strategy The candidate will lead entire business development process for select Medical Products business development initiatives (M&A, licensing, distribution, JV’s, etc) including negotiations and presentations to senior management. Handle the business development process includes identification, evaluation, negotiations, due diligence and implementation/execution. Provides input into the corporate strategic planning and pipeline processes. Directs the annual strategic planning activities for the division/revision ensuring corporate guidelines and schedules are met. Guides businesses and regions in their environmental assessments and development/review of their long-term strategies. Prepares division/region for strategic reviews with company senior management and the communication of the division’s/region’s strategies. Guides Strategic Business Units/regions through an in-depth analysis of key strategic issues. Directs the review and prioritization of R&D investments, and fulfill requirements of the innovation council. Facilitates competitive intelligence activities across the division. Provides strategic link with division/region business development. Builds a highly talented team to drive successful integration of objectives. Coaches and develops staff. Team consists of one to five strategy professionals and support staff.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have Bachelor’s degree and Master's degree in business, marketing, finance or science/technology. J.D. degree is accepted. 10+ years of healthcare (Medical Device, Pharmaceutical or Biotech) business experience and 5 years of management experience. Must have general business knowledge and in-depth knowledge in one or more of the following is needed to guide development of strategies: finance, sales and marketing, operations, or technology. Must have solid business acumen and knowledge of external healthcare business environment along with an understanding of competitive history and the ability to forecast next moves. Must have solid quantitative and qualitative assessment skills, critical thinking skills, and ability to constructively challenge ideas and assumptions.
