Profile

Legal Counsel, Germany Candidate will provide, as part of a team, front line support for all business and legal affairs matters affecting the business in Germany. Advise the business in a practical and commercially focused way on all relevant legal matters engaging in business affairs deal making (including in relation to television sales, digital distribution, production, DVD distribution, merchandising and licensing, format sales, live events). Draft, negotiate and manage contracts with customers and suppliers in a timely and effective way ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures and relevant legislation and regulation managing risk, ensuring good governance and protecting the company's brand and reputation adding value wherever appropriate in the business process. Co operate as part of a team of lawyers and other business affairs professionals required to also support the business liaising with the rest of the business and legal affairs team in the Western Europe region and, as appropriate, with other parts of the BLA division in other regions, in the content, brands and digital areas and in the central areas (in relation to content acquisition and commissioning, social media marketing, brand protection, collective rights management, commercial policy, company secretarial, data protection, information security, corporate matters).

Qualification and Experience

Candidate should be a German qualified lawyer with 6+ years of PQE. Should have relevant private practice and in-house experience required in areas that have provided the knowledge and skills referred to above. Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework in Germany is required. Should have knowledge and experience of German broadcast/media environments, including: Drafting and negotiating contracts in a content licensing environment detailed understanding of contract, commercial and intellectual property law and of the structures and systems within which broadcasters, producers, distributors (whether traditional or non-traditional like digital) operate.
