Profile

Manager, Legal Services/Senior Counsel Duties: Responsible for review and approval of all of the health system’s general physician and business contracts. Be the primary point of contact for all routine, day-to-day contractual and legal issues for the health system. Respond directly to internal customers regarding their legal questions and contract requests. Negotiate directly with outside counsel and ensure that the health system and all of its contracts comply with the applicable federal and state regulatory guidelines (e.g., anti-kickback, Stark, etc.). Manage the associate counsel and other support staff within the Legal Services Department. Report directly to the Senior Vice President/Chief Legal Officer and provide weekly reports on all projects, contracts, and other activities of the Legal Services Department. Advise the health system on a broad range of other legal and regulatory issues (e.g., medical staff, ambulatory, licensure, etc.). Additional required skills includes drafting and writing skills and superior legal research capabilities.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD Degree. Florida Bar. Must have significant experience in health care contracting: All Forms of Physician & Hospital Contracts (Employment Agreements, Recruitment Agreements, Call Coverage Agreements, etc.); All Form of Business Contracts (IS Contracts, Clinical Trial Agreements, Affiliation Agreements, Purchasing Contracts, etc.). Primary responsibility will be to coordinate directly with internal business leaders and the legal services team to ensure the efficient and high quality review of all the physician and business contracts for the health system. Must be detail oriented.. Must embrace mentoring and overseeing a team of three attorneys. Must have comprehensive knowledge of health care fraud and abuse laws. Must be a great communicator with the ability to convey complex legal issues in a practical, business-minded manner. Must be a team oriented individual with an overarching goal of enhancing the communication, cooperation, and collaboration of the entire legal department comprising: SVP / Chief Legal Officer, Executive Assistant, Two Senior Counsel, Four Associate Counsel, Two Contract Coordinators .
