Coverage Counsel The candidate will serve as legal counsel to Claims regarding diverse insurance coverage issues as part of the Coverage Counsel team, which provides advice and strategic guidance regarding complex claims across multiple lines of business. Will drafts coverage opinions and memorandum in connection with these responsibilities and work under the guidance and direction of Coverage Counsel's Managing Attorney in providing advice through both written and spoken communications. Researching and writing coverage opinions and memorandum, as well as draft position letter and other documents, for firm's adjusters regarding insurance coverage issues that arise in the context of multiple claims across diverse lines of business and keeping abreast of major developments in insurance coverage law and identifying cutting edge issues for the Claims organization is required. Working collaboratively with other members of Coverage Counsel on diverse projects, including preparation of training programs and tools for the Claims organization is needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have a JD degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to the Bar in 1+ States, including New York. Must have 5+ years of demonstrated expertise in insurance coverage law. Advanced understanding of insurance coverage law, including property and casualty concepts, across multiple jurisdictions is essential. Advanced ability to work with Word and Adobe is needed and an ability to work with Excel is a plus.
