Assistant General Counsel The candidate will provide advice and counsel to company officers and management on legal matters that affect the company. Keep abreast of emerging legal issues that may have an impact on the company. Research legal issues and provides written recommendations and memorandum. Draft and review contracts. Review legal documents as necessary. Provide legal support on employment matters including interpretation of applicable laws and regulations. Assist with responses to document requests and litigation (professional liability and employment actions). Assist with intake and processing of incident reports. Assist General Counsel to develop, coordinate and conduct in-service training on legal topics for administrators and support staff. Assist with the development, preparation and implementation of policies, by-laws, administrative procedures and other guidelines. A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and 2-5 years of experience in professional legal work preferable legal experience in the healthcare industry required. Familiarity with at least some of the following: HIPAA, STARK, Anti-Kickback, State Professional Licensure Rules, Insurance Coverage, Managed Care Agreements required. Strong leadership skills (experience in healthcare preferred/desirable) required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and advanced skills in all Office Suite products preferred (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required. Ability: to complete recurring reports, write business reports, compose memos/letters, write reports, summaries or work/projects; to review statutes and regulations and provide a cohesive summary of all applicable rules and regulations required.
