Corporate Counsel, Regulatory Law The candidate will research and respond actively, both orally and in writing, to a caseload of internal and external regulatory queries. Will advocate legal, regulatory, sustainability, and policy initiatives that promote the company's interests and advance innovative and workable solutions to complex agricultural law problems. Compliance with the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act, the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, and the Plant Protection Act, as they apply to the company’s products, with a focus on conventional pesticides and biopesticides. Legal and policy coherence and compliance with the use of company products (or crops produced from such) in the overall agri-food chain. Regulatory law support for contracts and transactions (e.g. licensing and acquisitions). Product stewardship guidance. Provide support to a diverse global client group. Other matters and special projects may be assigned from time to time. Provide supervised support to internal Regulatory Affairs and Government Affairs organizations (federal and state). Draft, negotiate, and guide compliance with regulatory and stewardship provisions of licenses and other agreements. Perform regulatory reviews of communications, labels and advertising for compliance. Work effectively with applicable government/regulatory agencies in an expeditious manner. Assess and advise on current and emerging legislative/regulatory/policy initiatives in areas of responsibility. Participate and represent the company in industry groups. Manage outside counsel to ensure high quality, cost-effective legal support and representation.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Juris Doctor degree. 6+ years of legal experience in government, corporate legal department, or law firm environment is needed. Must be member of at least one state Bar. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are needed. Should preferably have regulatory compliance/approval – EPA, USDA, FDA and international counterparts. Experience with FIFRA, FQPA, FFDCA, and PPA is preferred. Contract drafting and management experience is a plus.
