ProfileTrade Counsel The candidate will monitor, coordinate responses, provide advice, and develop strategy with senior management and business partners regarding new and ongoing major administrative trade investigations with impacts to vehicle, energy, and solar business segments. Will advise senior management and business partners on a wide range of complex legal and business issues related to global export control and import laws and regulations, including antidumping and countervailing duties, classifications, disclosure issues, export controls, homologation requirements, anti-corruption, free trade agreements, foreign trade zones, and TSCA. Will serve as primary liaison and point of contact between legal department and global trade and trade compliance teams. Will serve as a liaison and point of contact for integration of trade functions between solar business segments and vehicle and energy trade operations. Will provide relevant training when necessary and advisable on topics pertinent to global trade and legal requirements. Will assist in trade compliance due diligence and integration efforts related to mergers and acquisitions. Will effectively manage outside counsel.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have JD. Must have 5+ years of prior compliance experience in a law firm or in-house setting. Expertise or familiarity with EAR, ITAR, OFAC, EU Trade Regulations, global sanctions programs, and U.S. and EU Customs compliance requirements is highly desired. Must requires ability to interact appropriately with executive staff, management, supply chain, logistics, sales operations and other staff at all levels in multiple global locations. Must requires ability to independently research and analyze legal and regulatory issues and provide clear guidance to internal clients regarding potential legal risks. Candidate must possess business acumen, including a well-developed understanding of commerce and a creative approach to risk management that includes development of alternative paths and solutions. Must be a highly-motivated self-starter with the skills and temperament to function effectively and efficiently in a highly-regulated and dynamic environment. Must be able to multi-task and to delegate effectively; requires efficiency in managing outside counsel and internal resources. Must have excellent organization, communication, and presentation skills required.
