Specialist Legal Counsel The candidate will be a part of a team of contract negotiators and attorneys supporting EG's US State, Local and Education (SLED) sales team. Will also provide legal counsel and support to the business and directly participate in contract negotiations. Report to the managing attorney for EG's US Public Sector SLED business. Provide legal expertise in support of the SLED sales team on all facets of state and local government contracts/government procurement law. Resolve complex legal questions and contract disputes (collaborating with EG Legal and OGC team members as necessary). Negotiate the terms of a suite of state, local and education contracts with SLED customers. Promote effective collaboration and leveraging of expertise to deliver superior results on behalf of SLED and the OGC. Regularly report on work performed and ensure that OGC is kept abreast of all significant developments.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a J.D. degree and an active Bar membership from any of the fifty states or the District of Columbia. Should have a J.D. degree preferably from a top law school. Must have 2+ years of relevant legal experience practicing in the area of state and local government contracts/government procurement law. Experience can be from a combination of large law firm, government and/or in-house experience. Should have experience negotiating state and local government procurement contracts. Experience representing a major IT company on state or local government contracts matters is a plus. Subject matter expertise in the area of state and local government contracts/government procurement law is needed.
