Senior Counsel Responsibilities: Deliver legal counsel and services in support of the contracting needs of business units or functions of the company's North America Specialty Medicines group under the overall direction of the General Counsel, North America Specialty Medicines. Will be responsible for assisting in the negotiation, drafting and completion of agreements and other legal needs of designated departments and functions, such as managed markets and other commercial support functions. Also serves as a member of the company's North American legal group. Delivers timely, competent legal services in support of contract needs of various commercial departments or functions. Represents the company in legal matters related to third parties. Assists as needed in negotiation of agreements with third parties. Finalizes agreements with third parties to minimize legal risks and liabilities and to achieve the goals of the department entering into the agreement. Ensures that the company is in compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations; monitors compliance and makes recommendations to the General Counsel regarding changes to policies or operations. Participates in the strategic planning process and in the development of department business plans. Gives final legal approval for agreements entered into by the company. Follows company's safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures. Performs other projects and duties as required/assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification Requirements: A J.D. degree. A J.D. degree and undergraduate or graduate coursework or degree in science or business is preferred. 7+ years of experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department with an emphasis on contract negotiation and drafting. 3+ years in a large law firm plus legal experience in branded pharmaceutical industry or working on contract negotiation and drafting and other pharmaceutical issues is a plus.
