Junior Lawyer (Procurement & Vendor Contracts) Duties: Under direction from the VP, Associate General Counsel, will be expected to draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to many aspects of retail business, but primarily in support of the Procurement department. Will support the Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord & Taylor brands for the Hudson’s Bay Company. Will support the Procurement and Profit Improvement Committee by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with a wide range of non-merchandise vendors for both traditional and digital retail business, including contracts related to marketing, information technology, software licensing and consulting services, and a wide range of other non-merchandise goods and services. Will draft and provide input on RFP templates and other contract templates. Coordinate with and assist other attorneys throughout the Legal Department on various projects/issues on an as needed basis. Conduct legal research on various topics. Handle complex and/or sensitive projects, legal problems or issues with supervision by VP, Associate General Counsel and other department attorneys.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Active membership in the NY State Bar required. 2nd or 3rd year Attorney with transactional background. Excellent law school credentials; a mix of corporate law firm and in-house retail experience is strongly preferred. Ability to work independently towards completion of projects. Excellent follow up skills and strong attention to detail. Professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to prioritize and multi-task many competing projects and work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and apply strong problem solving skills. Excellent communication skills, with ability to deal with persons in numerous departments and positions within and outside the organization. Organized, enthusiastic, dedicated, motivated, self-starter who takes pride in their work product.
