Associate Counsel, Infrastructure Solutions Duties: Responsible for performing consultation and advisory, as well as ensuring the legal processes necessary to affect the rights, privileges and obligations of the Company organization, primarily for the Company’s Infrastructure Solutions Platform (ISP). Prepares and reviews various legal instruments and documents, such as contracts, leases, licenses, purchases, sales, etc. the other party to craft provisions that are acceptable to both the other party and the Company. Examines legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuits, bond claims or liens. Oversees outside attorneys who defend or prosecute any lawsuits, claims, mediations or arbitrations involving the US operations of ISP for which the Associate Counsel has primary responsibility.. Oversees and manages the budget for outside attorneys and expert witnesses for all matters involving the US operations of ISP for which the Associate Counsel has primary responsibility. Gathers evidence and information for support for management decision making, including the Vice President & General Counsel of ISP, as well as the Senior Executives of both ISP and Aegion. Advises both the Senior Executives and Project Managers of ISP on government regulations and/or legal rights. Represents the Company and/or ISP before quasi-judicial, judicial and/or government administrative agencies. Provide training to the Project Managers of ISP regarding the preparation and execution of subcontract agreements and change orders for all subcontractors for any project in the US. Manage and coach staff members. Coach staff on specific developmental issues and performing periodic reviews.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: A J.D. Degree and current admission to a state bar association at the time of employment, and admission to the Missouri bar within six (months) of employment. Additionally, 4+ years of legal experience is required for this position. 4+ years experience in the construction industry would be desired although not necessarily a requirement. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret very complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to highly sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management and board members. Ability to read, analyze and interpret blueprints and other construction documents. Ability to discuss the contents of these very complex documents with engineers and Company personnel. Ability to effectively communicate suggested changes or requests for clarifications.
