Intellectual Property Associate The candidate will do post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board at the USPTO; preparing and filing complaints, answers, and counterclaims and conducting associated pre-filing analysis. Will work on drafting discovery requests and responses and participating in discovery on infringement, validity, and damages issues, including expert discovery. Analyzing and understanding complex technical subject matter in patents and relevant prior art; conducting searches for and analyzing prior art to invalidate patent claims; conducting legal research for and drafting discovery and dispositive motions and claim-construction briefs; supporting trial teams. The candidate should have 2-3 years of patent-litigation experience, including participating in underlying case analysis; conducting factual and legal research; drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests; dealing with procedural matters; and assisting in deposition and hearing preparation. Should preferably have an undergraduate or advanced degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or computer engineering or an equivalent technical degree. Must have experience working within the IP department of a comparable law firm; a high level of academic achievement at an accredited law school; and a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) registration number or be qualified to take the USPTO’s registration examination. Should be licensed to practice law in California.
