Senior Counsel - Patent - Biotech The candidate will develop, implement and execute a global intellectual property strategy for company's therapeutic products and product candidates (e.g., antibodies and other large molecules), including formulations, process development or manufacturing methods relating to company's pipeline and in-line products. Responsibilities will include identifying patentable subject matter; drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications worldwide; conducting prior art searches; analyzing patents and preparing freedom-to-operate opinions; conducting due diligence in support of licensing activities; negotiating and drafting research agreements; analyzing trademark and copyright issues; providing legal advice and counsel to R&D and business personnel on a variety of IP related matters; assisting with litigation-related matters and challenging/defending patents in PTAB, opposition, and other forums. Will work individually and in legal teams and cross-functional R&D and business teams. Should have J.D. degree or LL.M. degree from an ABA accredited law school. An advanced degree such as a Master's or Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, structural biology, chemical engineering or biology is preferred. Must have admission to practice law in a US jurisdiction and 4 years of experience practicing intellectual property law. Must be registered to practice before the USPTO. 10+ years of experience practicing patent or intellectual property law is preferred. Experience in all aspects of US and foreign intellectual property law relating to biotechnology at a law firm or biotechnology/pharmaceutical corporation is preferred.
