Assistant General Counsel - Head of Workouts and Bankruptcy The candidate will report to the General Counsel of CB and be responsible for providing both strategic and transactional legal support for the Special Credits area of CB, which supports problem credits across CB. Will advise the Special Credits management team on strategic initiatives and provide counsel on all legal related issues as the trusted advisor and partner to the management team. Provide legal advice and guidance on transactions covered by the CB Special Credits Team, primarily, workout and bankruptcy. Lead a team of talented professionals responsible for providing primary legal support to CB Special Credits. Assist the CB General Counsel in setting the direction of internal legal activities of CB and work with the business and Compliance teams to effectuate such strategies. Partner in the strategic direction and design related to the dynamic library of compliance risks rules and regulations that impact workouts and bankruptcies. Partner with Legal Department , Compliance and Control colleagues to facilitate comprehensive and effective support for Special Credits. Manage a network of outside counsel and coordinate their work relating to workouts and bankruptcies.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a J.D. degree and membership in good standing of the IL or NY (or other appropriate) Bar. Must have 10+ years of experience, with increasing or suitable responsibility, at a law firm and/or in-house legal department at a large bank or financial services company, or equivalent experience. Should have knowledge of the legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to workouts and bankruptcies.
