Restructuring and Insolvency Associate The candidate will serve in legal research, drafting motions, pleadings and other transaction documents, discovery, court appearances, case management, and client communications. Must possess a JD degree from an accredited law school and a strong academic record. Preference given to the top 20% of graduating class or GPA of 3.5 and above. Must be in good standing and admitted to practice in a US State Bar. Admission to the State Bar of New York is expected. Should have 2+ years of experience working in a law firm handling junior-level work on complex restructurings, refinancings, sales and other dispositions, US Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 reorganizations or judicial clerkship experience. Experience in restructuring and insolvency representing various debtors, creditor’s committees, and secured and unsecured creditors in reorganizations and liquidations, including: legal research, written discovery, law and motion (discovery, dispositive and trial related motions, pleadings and briefs), court appearances, mediations, arbitration, client and witness interviews, trial preparation needed. Experience/working knowledge of Bankruptcy Code, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, and Local Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure essential. Familiarity with operation of Articles 2 and 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code and understanding of the strategic issues involved in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case needed. A background in business consulting, finance, economics or accounting is a plus.
