Bankruptcy Associate The candidate will be part of a team of attorneys who will work closely and independently with a diverse range of clients on many aspects of bankruptcy, insolvency and commercial law. Will be responsible for advising and representing clients on an array of bankruptcy litigation and pre-litigation matters, as well as insolvency related issues that arise in finance and other business transactions, including those implicating federal and California law. Knowledge of and work experience with commercial bankruptcy issues arising under Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 of the United States Bankruptcy Code is required. Experience with California insolvency law such as assignments for the benefit of creditors as well as Article 9 of the UCC is helpful. Engaging in legal and factual research and the preparation of motions, points and authorities and legal memoranda regarding various bankruptcy and insolvency issues including principally Chapter 11and Chapter 7. Advising clients regarding bankruptcy and other insolvency issues from the debtor’s perspective and from the creditor’s or other third party’s perspective.Representing clients such as Chapter 11 debtors, Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 Trustees, creditors, landlords, asset acquirers and other contract parties before the United States Bankruptcy Court and occasionally the California state courts. Advocating for clients in matters before the United States Bankruptcy Court. Partnering with the Firm’s transactional attorneys to provide bankruptcy and insolvency related counsel on due diligence and risk management and transfer in a diverse array of deal structures. And performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned. Must have a JD degree from a nationally recognized law school. Must be a current member of in good standing with the State Bar of California. Must have 4+ years of practicing bankruptcy law in a private law firm. Should have top academic credentials and proven analytical abilities.
