Legal - AGC - Mortgage Originations Attorney Duties: Will be responsible for providing support for the originations operations of company. May provide support for our correspondent lending operation but may be called on to provide support for retail, direct lending or home equity, as needed. Helping to ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws impacting the mortgage originations business. Working cooperatively with the Compliance Department to keep up to date with all changes to the laws and advising the business of changes in a timely manner. Providing legal advice and ongoing support for third party oversight for areas impacting the originations group. Advising senior management of origination risks within the organization and helping to devise practical solutions.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification Requirements: A J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school and current license to practice law in a U.S. State Jurisdiction. 5+years of experience within the legal department at a mortgage bank or law firm with particular experience in correspondent or retail mortgage originations. Experience working closely with banking regulators and managing examinations. Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations impacting mortgage originations such as TILA, ECOA, FCRA, RESPA, the Fair Housing Act, the Homeowners Protection Act, and predatory lending laws. Ability to prioritize work and interact effectively with senior management.
