Ops Risk/Compl Consultant 6 The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) manages RCRM is accountable for oversight of regulatory compliance risks. The CCO independently evaluates the Compliance Programs of the bank’s lines of business on an ongoing basis to ensure their adherence to corporate regulatory policies, provides credible challenge to management decisions, business processes and activities, and reports the company’s state of compliance. Will be responsible for managing a small team of compliance consultants conducting regulatory compliance risk management oversight for consumer lending related regulations and business compliance programs. Will provide enterprise-wide oversight and governance for: consumer residential lending, consumer non-residential lending, and consumer collections + Servicemember Civil Relief Act (SCRA). Additional responsibilities include maintaining an awareness of the state of compliance across assigned regulations, businesses and the industry; assuring compliance with applicable regulatory and internal policy requirements; providing subject matter expertise to businesses and support group partners on select regulations and risk topics; ensuring business issues are proactively identified and addressed appropriately, escalating when necessary; and managing relationships and fostering a team orientation with corporate, business heads, legal, audit and multiple regulators. Specific duties for this position include: Provide industry and subject matter expertise on assigned consumer lending activities. Proactively identify potential consumer lending compliance issues, constructively challenge existing fundamentals/assumptions and develop alternative approaches/solutions. Lead and manage a small team of compliance consultants who conduct regulatory compliance oversight and subject matter expert activities. Oversee fulfillment of risk assessment and other compliance risk tool requirements and use tools and reporting in conducting risk analysis. Support cross business regulatory examinations and audits. Lead and/or oversee corporate regulatory compliance initiatives across consumer lending areas to deliver enterprise-wide business transformations. Provide oversight for the successful implementation of applicable regulatory changes or other required action plans. Build strong partnerships and collaborate effectively with business, enterprise risk, Law Department partners and regulators.
Qualification and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s or Law Degree preferred. Should have 12+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk, IT systems security, business process mgmt. or financial services, of which at least 6 years must include direct experience in compliance or operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the mgmt. of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk). Should have demonstrated ability developing, implementing and/or overseeing effective consumer compliance programs, or the equivalent (e.g. Regulatory Compliance, Internal Audit programs, etc.). 3+ years of management experience is needed. Should have expertise in consumer lending regulations. Experience in working with banking regulators and experience with overseeing bank supervision strategy or compliance programs required. Ability to integrate end-to-end business process knowledge and assessment into oversight activities required. Previous regulatory or compliance experience in financial services; understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to financial institutions, particularly consumer lending regulations; and experience with overseeing projects/work flow across a global institution will be preferred.
