Profile

Specialist Operational Risk and Compliance The candidate will work with the functional areas within Personal Loans and members of the RBB COO structure to deliver appropriate governance, risk management and risk control functions to Personal Loans. Will ensure that risk management and governance are embedded throughout Personal Loans. Direct and manage the overall risk management process within Personal Loans, in a manner consistent with the Risk and Risk management policies. Research, develop and innovate to influence strategy formulation and in particular, to validate compliance standards imposed by Group for application in Personal Loans. Implement and maintain a superior governance and control framework aligned to company. Ensure adherence to Group Wide standards designed to meet the required Compliance and Risk Thresholds. Implement a robust Conformance framework that manages and influences risks flowing from the Principle Risk framework, applicable to Personal loans. Implement a reporting framework that facilitates management of key risks by aligning and adapt all reporting requirements to current operational and principal risk framework requirements. Implement and maintain reporting protocol in the operational risk, compliance, legal and anti-money laundering arenas. Manage pro-active and reactive communication with stakeholders in the operational risk, compliance, legal and anti-money laundering areas. Review and prepare periodic stakeholder communication documentation. Facilitate new AIA/MA/Compliance scopes by alignment and socialising with all role players with respect to personal loans. Agree to validity and accuracy of reporting of findings by AIA, MA and compliance. Facilitate accuracy and adequacy of management responses in respect of all outstanding audit, MA and compliance observations. Track and manage AIA, MA and compliance remediation milestones and due date deliverables. Assist the principal risk owners (PRO's) within personal loans in the management of remediation of audits. Ensure that findings are factually correct and agreed management actions are appropriate and proportionate by constantly engaging with business owners and ma and audit during actual audits and remediation. Track implementation by personal loans functional workstreams of agreed management actions. Ensure all milestones and due dates are met on time without exception by constantly engaging with action owner, audit and ma and by actively tracking outstanding items via due dates and dependencies. Ensure that all items marked for closure are tested by Management Assurance prior to marking for Issue Assurance by following the Absa process to send all closure documents to ma 30 days prior to closure date and by requesting on site MA review where relevant. Ensure all agreed management actions pass Issue Assurance on time without fail by tracking outstanding items, assess mitigating actions, assess control implementation effectiveness and engage with MA as per process. Maintain the RCA’s across Personal Loans functional areas. Regular review of RCA’s and validation of loss events. Establish key risk indicators in collaboration with functional areas in personal loans. Set thresholds and approve indicators. Ensure PL-wide implementation of record keeping/reporting of all risk events, Key Risk indicator breaches, Key Risk Scenarios and Executive Reporting. Ensure executive oversight and mitigation on key identified top risks. Track compliance to training requirements and drive proactive completion of requirements PL's compliance profile. Co-ordinate management self assurance and requirements from ma and AIAs by constantly engaging with all roleplayers and track all issues acting upon (IBAM's). Assess proposed regulatory change and impact on business advise on commercial solutions in implementing requirements. Implement/enhance processes and controls to ensure compliance to KFFIC⁄FICA/CASA requirements. Track compliance to requirements. Ensure the principal risk framework and group internal control and assurance framework (GICAF) is rolled out and embedded within PL. Ensure key risk owners (KRO's) in PL are accountable for their respective risks and controls. Ensure all group mandatory policies are assigned to the KRO's within PL oversee gap analysis of governance and risk control framework compiled by functional workstreams. Ensure involvement of company functional areas and key risk owners. Oversee identification and applications for further policy dispensations or waivers. Ensure implementation plans to address the identified gaps are appropriate and proportionate. Establish a tracking and reporting framework to ensure implementation plans are delivered successfully. Be an active and accountable member of the PL leadership team. Oversee ongoing resource allocation and optimization of the efficiency of the Conformance (Compliance, Anti-money Laundering, Operational Risk, Legal) requirements within PL. Develop and maintain relationships within own and wider team to facilitate attainment of the operational risk, Compliance, legal and anti-money laundering business objectives. Responsible for performance development of all staff in the operational risk, compliance, legal and anti-money laundering space in accordance with required standards. Ensure training gaps are identified and staff are adequately trained right to any relevant risk. Conduct performance development (PD) reviews. Responsible for day to day management of own area.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have B-degree in Risk management or any Financial / Business / Legal Degree (NQF level 6). Post graduate level calibre within a conformance or compliance environment in a senior leadership role is required. Must have 3+ years of Risk management experience in a financial institution. Should have ability to manage multiple stakeholders to ensure delivery is not put as risk. Experience in a working environment characterised by rapid growth and change is needed. Wide-ranging knowledge, skill and experience in a commercial aspects of a financial services business is essential. Should be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and the Internet.
