Associate General Counsel - LATAM Wealth Management The candidate will be responsible for providing cross border regulatory, capital markets (including OTC derivatives and structured finance), banking, investment (alternative and traditional) and lending legal advice to ultra-high net worth, high net worth and affluent client segments. Primary coverage include tow broker dealer platforms and a bank platform. Will work closely with senior management, Senior bankers, senior investment counselors, senior risk managers, country compliance officers and legal counsel (external and in-house) in order to meet the businesses' strategic and other objectives. Be the subject matter expert for capital markets, lending and banking matters. Provide senior management with advice on the businesses' strategic initiatives. Provide primary legal coverage of LATAM's banking business, including all banking products booked out of New York and the Bahamas. Provide primary coverage of the LATAM capital markets desk on a daily basis (including Dodd Frank implementation, FX derivatives, OTC derivatives and structured notes). Provide primary coverage of lending matters, including drafting tailored loan documentation (notes, credit agreements, pledge agreements, etc.) for commercial real estate transactions, aircraft finance, art finance and margin and securities backed finance transactions. As part of the product committees, reviewing and approving all new investment product offerings in the LATAM region. Provide primary coverage for legal issues stemming from various one-time or special projects.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a J.D., LL.M., or foreign equivalent and 10+ years of experience as a Lawyer at a law firm advising international banks or at an international bank. Should have prior experience with banking, lending, securities and broker-dealer regulations, preferably with some experience with the wealth management sector. Should be fluent in Spanish. Portuguese fluency is desirable. Should be admitted to practice in FL and/or NY.
