Practice Innovation Coordinator The candidate will introduce ideas, adopt innovative approaches and drive the implementation of solutions. Will remain current on emerging technologies, information and knowledge management techniques, trends and related innovations - both inside and outside the legal industry. Dedicate a substantial amount of time and effort to understanding how the lawyers work individually and as a group and will identify opportunities to inject process improvement, project management, precedential materials, technology and other solutions to create a competitive advantage for the Firm and better serve clients. Focus on streamlining the drafting, analysis, review and management of legal contracts, documents and deal packages through document analysis, automation tools and workflow enhancement. Attorneys and other legal staff will then leverage those systems to more efficiently and cost effectively deliver legal analysis, documents and deal packages to firm clients. Create questionnaires and forms to capture deal point information utilizing DealBuilder software. Also create rules-based legal process applications utilizing Neota Logic software. Initiate and coordinate legal knowledge projects and systems carrying projects through the entire lifecycle, from initial conception, to requirements gathering, researching solutions, and evaluating software, selection of software, and preparation of written recommendations. If recommendations are accepted, then manage implementation of the solution from planning, development, testing, deployment/implementation, training, documentation and on-going monitoring, analyzing usage and maintenance. Manage multiple projects concurrently while meeting individual project milestones and satisfying deadlines. Use project management techniques to effectively manage small to large projects efficiently. Serve as a business analyst and consultant, with emphasis on collaboration, technology-based solutions, improving legal processes, engendering cultural change and focus on the overall awareness, evangelism and adoption of existing and new knowledge and practice innovation solutions. Gather and document requirements, create high-level specifications, and help determine necessary hardware and software related to a given project. Coordinate with end-user resources in testing processes in support of solutions development and pre-deployment testing and quality assurance. Serve as the vendor contact for any external systems that may be instituted within the department. Perform vendor due diligence. Utilize DealBuilder to create template questionnaires and Neota Logic to formulate rules-based legal process applications. Research ideas, recommend solutions, and identify opportunities to inject process improvement or technology to create a competitive advantage for the firm and to better serve clients. Provide practice group, Department and team management with regular briefings on key opportunities relating to technology and its effective use. Provide training to lawyers, paraprofessionals, and staff on the firm's relevant knowledge management tools and information sources. Assist in the creation and maintenance of customized documentation regarding department-specific applications. Assist in the creation and presentation of pitches to clients on Practice Innovations and LPM programs, including demonstrating document automation and rules-based legal process software applications. Work beyond scheduled hours as necessary and travel as required.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have an undergraduate degree. Must have 5 years of law firm / legal department experience or 3 years of knowledge management experience in the legal environment. Prior experience as a lawyer would be advantageous. Project management experience required. PMP or similar certification preferred. Business Analysis experience required. Experience working with SharePoint, document automation tools, Recommind, Social Networking, and related systems preferred. Prior experience working for a global organization is preferred. Should have a strong understanding of the development of the discipline of Knowledge Management, how it has evolved and how law firms can benefit from it through typical and non-typical implementations.
