Senior Adviser for Vice President for Disaster Recovery Duties: Provides the Vice President for Disaster Recovery (VP) with senior level management support. Oversee efforts to streamline project management; liaise with various departments; coordinate/follow up on various requests, projects & assignments; and act as Capital Project's representative who will interact with and respond to the concerns of political leadership. Assist in overseeing day-to-day operations of the division; attend meetings, discuss options and make recommendations. Recommend enhancement of management policies, procedures and processes. Respond to information requests from internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to, the Department of Communications, Contractors, NYC 311 Link, Audits, Office of the Inspector General, Housing and Urban Development and City Hall. Research issues and prepare briefings. Maintain a schedule of active, planned, and completed Disaster Recovery projects. Propose repurposing of funds on projects that are not feasible. Recommend new project(s) where funds can be reallocated. Redistribute funding sources. Communicate with elected officials, sponsors and/or resident leadership; address requests and resolve issues or concerns. Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders; provide follow-up. Engage in special projects with other departments or plans initiated by Executive Vice-President that support the overall mission of Authority. Represent Capital Projects on committees and subcommittees involved in special initiatives or projects. Attend public forums or meetings involving the Chairman, Executive Staff and the VP. Liaise with Hurricane Sandy Program Consultants on a daily basis. Present disaster recovery updates to Authority resident groups and Property Management staff.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements 1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, / public administration, and 5 years of full-time satisfactory experience in the planning, administering or expediting of engineering design, and/or construction, / coordinating a very large engineering project, 2 years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or 2. A Four-year High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years of experience as described in "1" above; 2 years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or 3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. An accredited Master's degree in a of the disciplines described in "1" above, a law degree, or a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect or Landscape Architect may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Must have the two years of the administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Preferred Skills: 1. Ability to perform detailed work under time-sensitive deadlines. 2. Ability to work collaboratively with others. 3. Excellent organizational skills. 4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
