Conflicts Counsel The candidate will review and analyze new business conflict of interest reports and identify potential conflicts of interest and assist Attorneys in resolving them. Will review and analyze lateral and new attorney conflict of interest reports and identify potential conflicts of interest and assist Attorneys and firm Management in resolving them. Provide concise and complete summaries of potential conflict issues and steps required for resolution for Attorneys and NBI Coordinators. Conduct online searches and use web-based research tools, company websites and/or public databases to determine relevant information about potential representations. Discuss conflict of interest and loss prevention issues with Attorneys, NBI staff and the Assistant General Counsel to identify and resolve potential conflicts of interest. Exercise discretion and professional independent judgment with respect to the identification and resolution of potential conflicts of interest. Draft clear engagement and waiver letters, as necessary, for Attorneys and follow up to ensure waivers are obtained before files are opened. Review language in Attorney drafted waiver and engagement letters to ensure that they adequately address conflicts and engagement issues. Review outside counsel guidelines to identify deviations from the firm's engagement policies; work with Attorneys to appropriately address deviations. Confirm need for ethical walls to screen individuals from particular clients and matters; manage and maintain the firm's processes for implementing walls. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the American Bar Association (ABA) Model Rules of Professional Conduct as adopted in each state in which firm maintains offices, and jurisdictional differences in all states and practice areas in which firm conducts business. Monitor ABA and jurisdictional rules for changes; suggest modifications in firm policy to the Assistant General Counsel for approval. Perform legal research, as needed, and draft memos to define firm policies or to resolve potential conflict of interest situations. Participate in professional organizations that promote the ongoing education and development of professional ethics in the legal industry. Assist with special projects as requested by the Assistant General Counsel or General Counsel. Perform other duties as assigned by the NBI Manager, Director of Risk and Records, General Counsel or other members of firm leadership. Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the technologies that support the daily operations of the NBI department, including InTapp Open, Elite and/or other conflicts database systems. Must have active Bar membership in good standing. Should preferably have 2+ years of experience in conflicts clearance in a large law firm.
