Attorney, International Trade Import Compliance Duties: Be a critical member of the Building & Industrial Systems' core compliance staff. Provide pragmatic legal support and advice on global customs compliance issues. Review proposed import compliance actions to ensure compliance with legal requirements. Conduct import compliance legal research necessary to support business initiatives. Effectively interface with import regulatory agencies. Review and assist business with preparing and filing prior disclosures. Assist in the management of compliance matters through matter management systems. Provide training to designated employee on new and current import rules and regulations. Provide strategic advice in the development and drafting of import trade compliance policies and programs. Negotiate commercial transactions with customs brokers. Effectively represent BIS in Import Compliance meetings and initiatives as necessary. Provide information on developments and important changes in applicable import laws and regulations.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: B.A./B.S. degree with 5+ years experience, OR J.D. degree with 3-5+ years of experience, preferably with import compliance. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
