Intern Tax SALT Summer 2015 Duties: Assist clients in tax planning for businesses, including identifying and developing tax savings opportunities (income/franchise, payroll/unemployment, sales/use) that arise from legal entity changes and in designing specific plans to help a business address its state and local tax matters. Analyze the state and local tax ramifications of various transactions, including mergers and acquisitions; or assisting clients with identifying and negotiating business incentives and credits available to an organization. Stay current on state legislative, judicial, and administrative developments. Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including compliance, advising, planning, and controversies. Help clients with tax issues related to income and franchise taxes. Prepare and/or review state income tax estimated payments, extensions and tax returns; working primarily at the client’s office. Assist in handling notices received from state tax authorities. Research and draft technical memoranda related to compliance issues.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Pursuing a Bachelor of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy, Master of Taxation, J.D. Degree with a Bachelor of Accountancy, and/or LLM degree with a concentration in tax from an accredited college/university. Effective communication, leadership and time management skills. Strong technical ability to help meet business objectives. Able to work as a member of a team and strive for personal effectiveness and professionalism to maintain excellent client service. Excellent writing, communication, and tax research skills. Demonstrated ability to perform in a high-energy team environment.
