Academic Research Associate, Stanford Law School Duties: Work closely with Professor, the Professor of Law and Business at Law School, and former Commissioner of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, on a range of research projects related to corporate law and securities litigation and regulation. Engage in a broad mix of research and analysis under the supervision of Professor Grundfest. Potential projects include an analysis of Leidos, Inc. v. Indiana Public Retirement System, a case currently pending before the Supreme Court, an examination of blockchain technology as it relates to federal securities law, and an analysis of the legal and public policy implications of the proliferation of dual class and non-voting share structures. Draft and edit content for academic journals and peer-reviewed publications. Develop law school course materials. Other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: A Law Degree or equivalent work experience, a very strong academic record, research experience, and 2+ years’ experience in litigation or transactional matters related to relevant fields of practice. Demonstrated writing skills through law review or other publication is highly desired. Training in quantitative analysis is desirable, but not necessary, as is experience in database construction and design. Strong presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills, and will be able to operate independently with little faculty supervision. A strong entrepreneurial inclination is highly valued. Interpersonal skills: Demonstrates the ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients and with external organizations. Promotes Culture of Safety: Demonstrates commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety; communicates safety concerns; uses and promotes safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned. Must have excellent academic credentials and at least two years’ experience in relevant fields of practice. Particularly well suited to a practicing attorney, with either a litigation or transactional background, seeking a transition to academia. Candidates willing to make a minimum one-year commitment are strongly preferred.
Schedule: 20 hours per week
