Associate Attorney Duties: Will be responsible for, among other duties, preparation of pleadings, correspondence to courts and clients, court appearances for default judgments and trials, post judgment collection actions including garnishments and other legal remedies. Will be filing suit and performing all pre and post judgment collection actions necessary to recover debts owed to the clients. Hourly billing as determined by firm requirements. Will sign collection pleadings every day; attendance and arguing hearings and motions in multiple jurisdictions; trial preparation and completion in multiple jurisdictions. Conduct legal research and writing as assigned by partners and senior associate attorneys. Deposition preparation and completion. Discovery drafting and completion. Maintain confidentiality of clients, firm information, cases, staff and contacts. Supervise and mentor law clerks, and office staff as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualification Requirements: Law degree. Membership of State and Federal Bars for Kansas/Missouri. 2+ years of experience in litigation in State court collection litigation Bankruptcy Court, Civil Case Prosecution and Federal Consumer Protection Law. Must maintain required continuing legal education as required by Bar Associations. Proficiency with Commercial Legal Software, Court Calendar systems (including notes, speed letters, and hearing scheduling). Knowledge to the laws and rules governing state, federal, and bankruptcy courts, administrative law arbitration, legal terminology and forms. Knowledge of trial and hearing procedures. Knowledge of investigative and interviewing techniques. Ability to analyze legal issues and identify relevant case opinions and facts. Ability to handle sensitive matters or a confidential basis. Ability to interpret laws, rules, and regulations. Knowledge of MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to negotiate settlements per client s instructions. Ability to present professional appearance and demeanor in a professional office setting.
