Associate Attorney The candidate will carry a reasonably sized caseload, with the expectation that will provide service that surprises. Focus on the mission to develop stronger families by empowering clients to make healthy choices. Act as first point of contact with retained clients. Proactively and efficiently manage cases from beginning to end. Handle customer care, ensuring clients are up-to-date on the status of their case and feel informed about their options. Thoroughly document case progress through defined processes, as well as help develop those process in response to customer needs. Review, organize, and analyze client documents and document production. Review staff-generated pleadings and other office documents. Meet with supervising attorneys to regularly share information and define strategy. Use programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, Clio, and Google Apps to communicate and report. Sit first chair on family law hearings and trials. Participate in marketing activities to promote law firm. Handle initial consults. Provide support and guidance for younger associates and paralegals. Manage and empower law clerk to learn about family law and assist cases.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Active member with the Texas State Bar. 3+ years of family law experience. Has sat first chair in a family law hearing. A background in family law, working with children, and/or working with parents. Fluent in Spanish, a networking machine, and/or someone who really gets into creating processes for a law firm. High-maintenance, humorless, or self-important individuals will not succeed in this position and should not apply. Should already be a self-starter, quick learner, and stay cool under pressure. Must be compassionate toward clients in the office and a beast in the courtroom. Must be collegial and fun, but industrious. Coping skills are a must: Cases/clients can be intense. Must have a demonstrated ability to talk people off of the ledge.
