Assistant General Counsel – Trademark & Copyright Duties: Play a critical role in building and protecting one of the world’s most recognizable and inspirational brands. Will assist in managing the global trademark, copyright, and domain name portfolio and be part of a high performing, collegial team of trademark attorneys and paralegals. Responsible for all aspects of trademark clearance, prosecution, maintenance and enforcement, as well as copyright and domain name matters, including, Supporting day to day intellectual property clearance of materials used in connection with marketing, product, digital, and retail; Prosecuting both US and non-US trademark applications; Developing strategic copyright protection plans; Managing complex disputes, including oppositions, cancellation actions, and trademark or copyright litigation; Enforcing rights in its brands and creative content through cease and desist letters, negotiation, settlement agreements; Responding to third party cease and desist letters; Supporting various commercial initiatives and transactions from an IP perspective; Managing domain name registrations, acquisitions, transfers, and disputes. Advise business partners throughout worldwide organization, providing strategic advice in plain English while taking into account business practicalities. Manage a worldwide network of foreign counsel with an eye towards best in class service and budget limitations. Assist in the continual effort of proactively streamlining team’s processes and procedures to best serve an ever changing and evolving business. Develop strong relationships with our key business partners to be considered a trusted advisor that the business always wants at the table. Provide impactful, tailored, and up to date trademark, copyright, and domain name education materials to our business partners.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Member, in good standing, of at least one U.S. State Bar. 6+ years’ experience in the practice of trademark law; experience with domain name and copyright issues optimal. Law firm experience specializing in trademark required (4+ years); additional in-house experience preferred. Experience partnering closely with trademark paralegals. Strong communication skills. Able to effectively manage and prioritize a high volume workload and work well under pressure in a fast moving environment. Familiarity with Anaqua is a plus.
