Legal Secretaries also called as Administrative Assistants assist the attorneys with their workload. Temporary Legal Secretary works on contract basis for a fixed term only. The work is usually of a temporary nature, often with no guaranteed employment term. These secretaries are hired by the employers for a specific job or period. When the job or period is finished, the relationship is over. Legal Secretaries can be employed in a private law firm, corporation, government agency, or legal services office. They perform secretarial and clerical duties which are needed to run an organization smoothly and efficiently. Their duties include managing attorneys calendar, answering phones, opening and sorting mail, entering attorneys time, assisting with billing books and coordinating projects with word processing and in-house copy service. Certification for legal secretaries is a growing trend nowadays and may enhance employment opportunities for them. Legal secretaries must have excellent computer skills and be proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, legal research, presentation and time and billing software. Temporary legal secretaries generally see to it that they develop long lasting relations with the employer so that they can regularly get the projects. Their compensation is on an hourly basis and depends on factors like size, type, and location of the firm or the organization. Temporary secretaries turn out to be a better option to the firms in the situation of glooming economy, as their services can be availed at much controlled costs.
