'Legal Secretaries provide administrative support to attorneys and other legal professionals. They nowadays take on more demanding challenges and have many more responsibilities. A Real Estate Legal Secretary answers phones and emails, prepares court papers, types and files documents, maintaining a law library, answering clients questions and scheduling appointments, and coordinates travel itineraries. Work activities also include: processing expense reports, arranging meetings, tracking invoices and preparing, drafting and editing various real estate documents like purchase and sale contracts, leases, sales documents, letters of intent, exhibits and closings. At present there is no specific educational qualification for legal secretaries in the US. However, large firms and corporates will undoubtedly want to hire candidates with previous experience and specific educational courses. A course in real estate law will always be an asset. Legal Secretaries may start their careers at entry-level positions and may advance to senior levels. There are more prospects of promotions at a medium to large-sized firm compared to a small size firm. The secretaries may also achieve a supervisory position or become a paralegal. An eye for detail, must be able to organize and the ability to communicate well is needed. Good typing or keyboarding skills are required as well.

Should have 3-5 years' experience supporting Corporate and Real Estate attorneys in a large law firm setting. Must have general Corporate practice knowledge. Finance experience is a plus. Experience supporting attorneys that handle both residential and commercial Real Estate matters is a plus. Must have strong MS World, Excel, and Styles.

Must have experience as a legal secretary, have transactional and entity formation experience, exceptional communication and organization skills, the ability to work effectively within a group or independently, excellent Word, Outlook, and Excel knowledge, and type a minimum of 65 words per minute with high accuracy.

The candidate must have 3+ years of experience with Commercial Real Estate/Transactional area of law. Must have strong software skills including but not limited to Advanced Word, Excel, I-manage and Track Changes.

Must have 5+ years of real estate experience in a large law firm setting or a commercial real estate brokerage firm. Should preferably have extraordinary attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills and keen proofreading abilities. Should have strong MS Office skills and be highly skilled at document editing, providing administrative support, making travel arrangements, preparing correspondence and other clerical tasks. Must also be able to independently prioritize and manage multiple tasks while satisfactorily meeting deadlines and desired outcomes. Professional presentation and demeanor is required.

The candidate will work with a commercial real estate associate and a real estate partner.

The candidate should have 3+ years of experience, and/or asset-based and commercial/residential lending transactions experience. Litigation experience preferred. Knowledge of commercial and residential transactions essential. Knowledge of grammar and basic math needed. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and use of transcription equipment essential. Experience using ATIDS, DoubleTime, and/or ProPel is preferred. Ability to type 70+ wpm a plus; 55 wpm required.'
