'The Floater Legal Secretary provides interim coverage for Administrative Secretaries to provide continual and consistent support to the attorneys and the firm.

Ability to work in all areas for the clients is growing enormously and this enhances the employment opportunities for Floater Legal Secretaries. There is no official title given to these floaters. The secretaries however, get to enjoy a variety of work. Assignments could be as short as an hour or may be for months. They give their services as an \\\\\\\overflow\\\\\\\" secretary. Floaters are usually hired by law firms that are not small. Floater Legal Secretaries are assigned to various departments which helps them to get familiar with the lawyers and types of documents being produced. They get exposed to quality work done in many different practice areas

Contract Floater Legal Secretary

The candidate must have computer skills. Should preferably have 5+ years of legal experience. Litigation and Corporate experience is a plus, typing speed of 60 WPM and excellent communication skills are needed.

Floater Legal Secretary

The candidate will assist with filing projects and other needs throughout the office. Assignments may be short-term for just the day, or fill in for periods anywhere up to 12 weeks at a time. Typing documents, firm standard letters, pleadings, correspondence, and memoranda received via hand-written copy, electronically, Dictaphone, dictation or edited typed work product. Answering telephones. Using Direct Time Entry (DTE) for accurate entering of time records. Using File Surf and organizing/maintaining sets of files. Preparing Expense Memoranda. Using Internet to make travel reservations. Copies, scans and files various client documents. Proofreading of all work to ensure accuracy. Acts as backup to other legal secretaries to support additional attorneys or paralegals when necessary to assist with overflow work. High School (or equivalent) required; college given preference. 3+ years' experience in secretarial field; preference given to legal experience. Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures is required. Litigation knowledge of electronic filings preferred. Knowledge of PC and Windows applications.

Floater Legal Secretary-Temporary

The candidate will perform a broad range of secretarial, document processing and administrative support to attorneys and clients where superior client service is emphasized and practiced. May assume responsibility for special projects and have some client contact. This position requires knowledge of legal terminology and procedures, and applicable technology. Duties include, but are not limited to, client service, word processing, cluster coverage and other administrative responsibilities as assigned. Assignments may be short or long-term. Must have excellent word processing skills and advanced competency in Office 2010, including Outlook and Word (Excel and PowerPoint a plus); strong organizational skills; attention to detail; ability to maintain confidentiality; adaptability; professional demeanor; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prioritize and multitask; commitment to superior customer/client service (telephone coverage, responsiveness and teamwork). 5 years of law firm experience is required. Expertise in both litigation and corporate law preferred.'
