'An insurance defense paralegal is a paralegal who works in the area of insurance defense law. Insurance defense paralegals assist insurance defense attorneys in the course of their work, which often involves defending insurance companies when it comes to making payments on certain claims. Because insurance defense paralegals are not attorneys and have not been admitted to the bars of any state, insurance defense paralegals must always work under the direction of a practicing attorney. The kinds of tasks an insurance defense paralegal might handle include reviewing insurance policies and claims, and drafting court pleadings. Insurance defense paralegals sometimes work for private law firms and sometimes work directly for insurance companies.

Seeking Insurance Defense Paralegal with 5+ years of experience in construction law, insurance defense, civil litigation and products liability. Candidates must be able to draft routine notices, affidavits, motions and petitions pretrial orders, witness and exhibit lists and subpoenas, locate and schedule expert witnesses, conduct research, interview and schedule witnesses, shepardize motions and briefs, prepare deposition and mediation notebooks, and assist in preparation for trial. Proficiency in Microsoft Word is a must. Experience with document management software preferred.

Should have experience and knowledge of the Federal Court CM/ECF system and filings. Should also be experienced with use of Summation and/or Eclipse.'
