Hunton & Williams Announces Lay Offs

New announcements of lay-offs recently include Hunton & Williams, an international law firm with 19 offices worldwide. The Richmond, Virginia firm announced that it was cutting 23 associates and counsel and 64 staff members. For the first time since the economic downturn, lay-off notices were sent via email to the firm's staff Thursday morning affecting two percent of the firm's 1,000 lawyers and six percent of staff members. The firm reported a 2.2 percent increase in revenue in 2008, and a 3 percent drop in profits per partner.
