Alameda County Judge Charged With Embezzling Millions From Elderly Neighbors
Judge Paul Seeman of the Alameda County Superior Court has been charged with elder financial abuse as well as 11 counts of perjury.
The 57-year old judge is accused of cheating his elderly neighbors, the Nuttings of $1.6 million. Seeman started a friendship with the Nuttings in 1999 when their house was deemed uninhabitable.
He was able to get the power of attorney status and when Lee Nutting passed way, he began to sell the Nuttings' assets, including their property in Santa Cruz. He is also alleged to have sold off the Nuttings' art collection, coin collection and a valuable Lionel train set.
In 2007, Ann Nutting, who passed away in 2010, hired a different attorney to take care of her affairs who discovered the fraud and alerted the Berkeley police department.

The police investigated him for over two years before arresting him on Thursday in his own courthouse and he had to spend the night in the Glenn Dyer Jail next door. He was released on Friday on a bail of $525,000.
Seeman's next court date is on July 3.
