04/09/12 Quinn Emanuel to Defend Megaupload Kim Schmitz, better known as Kim Dotcom; the founder and head of file-sharing website Megaupload is putting together a high profile defense team. Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan has recently filed a motion in the federal court in Alexandria, Virginia to appear on behalf of Megaupload. The website was seized and shutdown by the FBI in January and Kim Dotcom and some of his associates were arrested in New Zealand. They are being charged with extensive copyright violation and breaking piracy laws. The criminal indictment filed in Alexandria is the largest case of piracy to be brought on by the government to date. Kim Dotcom is still in New Zealand and is fighting extradition to the U.S. |
