The staff of the Career Services Office is diverse, and offers students, collectively, more than 80 years of experience in legal career services. Brian Lewis is the Assistant Dean for Career Services at the UNC School of Law.

The Career Services Office (CSO) offers many services in career counseling, including interview preparation, resume preparation, finding leads, defining career goals, networking, job search strategy and development, and a comprehensive resource library. The CSO also plans a host of networking events to connect employers with potential applicants during the year. In addition, counselors are knowledgeable about local and national legal job markets.

The CSO uses the Symplicity database to manage job listings, as well as career fairs, on-campus interviewing and other recruiting events that feature its job postings. Students and alumni have full access to this resource. According to law.unc.edu, ''UNC Law alumni may request reciprocity to any accredited law school on a one-at-a-time basis.''

According to the March 1st, 2010 law.unc.edu article, ''Law School Career Services Offices Collaborate in Identifying Career Trends'', Brian Lewis, assistant dean for career services at the UNC School of Law, along with almost 50 professionals representing firm hiring managers, recruitment managers and law school career services officers, met in December of 2009 to discuss the changing recruiting and hiring trends for new law students.

Lewis was quoted as saying: ''Given the significant changes in the economy, we wanted to have a focused discussion on what the firms are thinking and what law schools can do to help them while helping our students.''

Their discussion revealed that as the economy tightens, graduates who already have work experience present themselves in a professional manner, and those who are willing to stay in the area would earn an advantage over other applicants.

Students are encouraged to use the Career Services Office from the start of their legal education.
