Every county has its own set of laws and regulations. The people residing in these countries are expected to abide by the laws prevailing in their country. However, very few people are acquainted with the intricate law structures. It is for this purpose that lawyers are important. The primary job of a lawyer is to see to it that justice is delivered and that every person at fault is penalized.

A lawyer is not just a judicial professional, but also a responsible citizen of the country. Every lawyer has a responsibility towards society. It is necessary that the lawyer should have certain principles and he should perform his duties with full determination. Law proceedings can sometimes stretch up to a long period of time. In such cases, the lawyer should remain patient and also assure his client of positive judgment. The kind of academic qualifications that are required to become a practicing lawyer are different in different countries. The reason for this is that the laws in various countries are of a different nature. However, in the United States of America, anyone who intends to become a lawyer has to enroll in law school.

As said earlier, the job of a lawyer requires constant learning. A lawyer may decide to specialize in a particular field of law or he may become a general lawyer. The laws of every country are very complex in nature. Hence, the lawyer has to keep updating his knowledge regarding the amendments in law terms. A lawyer's main function is to help his client with legal issues. These issues can involve property, crime, or any other civil matter. The lawyer has to study the client's case in depth and then begin the process of drafting court papers. These court papers have a format that must be complied with. Also, there are a lot of formalities that need to be completed in order to address a case. It is the lawyer's duty to fulfill all of these.

A lawyer may work independently or as a part of a law firm. Law firms are a group of lawyers who decide to come together and collectively perform their duties. Students who are in the process of studying as a law intern with law firms in order to get experience in drafting legal papers and all the other activities that are to be addressed in a legal office.

This experience that they get while they are still studying helps them a lot in their future endeavors. They get a fairly good idea of how legal matters are to be addressed.

The independent lawyers charge their fees depending on their reputation and the matter they have in hand. In case of employees of law firms, their average salary starts from $145,000 and can go up to $160,000. These young lawyers are also paid a bonus which is exclusive of their basic salary.

Hence, the job of a lawyer is mentally and financially satisfying. The top lawyers charge phenomenal amounts of money for their services. This means that once you build goodwill for yourself in the legal circle, then you can command any price you want to. The profession of a lawyer is a very fruitful one.
